Lesley grew up in the welfare system – she moved frequently, spent time in government housing and even homeless. At a young age she decided to not continue the same lifestyle for her children and dedicated herself to moving out of that lifestyle.
In between full-time work and caring for her 4 children as a single parent, she became the first in her family to ever complete high school and eventually worked through degrees at a technical/business school, Houston Community College and the University of Houston.
Her family moved into their new, affordable home in Fall 2010. She is a wonderful example of local, hard-working families who need a hand up, not a hand out, and we are here to help – along with the support of generous partners like Lowe’s annual Women Build project who sponsored and built Lesley’s home!
