Houston Habitat is proud of a continued commitment to sustainable building materials and practices. This commitment has earned us the Energy Star Award in 1999, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Our affiliations include Green Built Gulf Coast, U.S. Green Building Council – Gulf Coast Chapter, and the 2010 Houston Solar Tour.
Our homes are sustainable, green homes based on the materials we carefully choose and the building methods we use. We work to be good financial stewards for our sponsors, donors and future homeowners.
We have found that it is more than just possible to go green – it’s affordable. Several sponsors have taken a step up to include upgrades such as solar-generated electricity and solar-powered hot water heaters.
