Building Homes, Changing Lives | ![]() ![]() |
| Volunteer Houston Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority of volunteers have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are primarily involved in the construction of the exterior shell of the home. These activities include raising the wall fames, installing sheathing, bracing the structure, installing insulation, vinyl siding, installing roof trusses, decking, felt & shingles, and some basic trim. Following the completion of the shell, Houston Habitat hires skilled professionals to handle all interior buildout of the home. This includes electrical, plumbing, HVAC, dry wall, cabinet installation, floor tile and painting. This process allows Houston Habitat to build more homes for deserving families. Volunteers work side-by-side with our Family Partners who will live in the homes we build. As a volunteer you will experience the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.
We invite volunteers to help build wall frames and homes, assist in the office, work in the ReStore, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some volunteers dedicate several days per week and others spend a day each month working on projects or in the ReStore. As a volunteer for Houston Habitat for Humanity, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All of these positions are a tremendous help that directly or indirectly result in the construction of simple, decent homes. ![]() |
