About our Speakers


Jeanette De Los Santos joined Houston Habitat in 2018 and has extensive experience in community and government relations. She is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and minor in Business Administration.

Jeanette has over 15 years of experience in community and government relations. With a passion for public service, she has a proven reputation for building strong relationships across multi-cultural and diverse sectors to help communities thrive and help people achieve a better quality of life.


Raymond Hall is the Project Coordinator for Covenant Community Capital which is a nonprofit; assisting individuals with Harvey Home Repair and am now assisting individuals who desire to save and purchase a home, whether a single-family, townhome, and or condominium; through the IDA program.

IDAs are offered across the country in most markets as an alternative means for low-income individuals and families to save funds towards buying a home. Most IDA programs require that participants attend an orientation, basic financing courses, and meet other income and credit requirements.


Sammie Harlan is the Local Houston/Bay Area VP-Mortgage Banking Officer with BBVA. She is a Graduate of the University of Kansas and has been working in the banking industry for over 5 years.

She enjoys helping her community understand the process of homeownership and helping them achieve their goals of financial freedom.




Jeremiah Rivera supports the City of Houston’s Housing and Development Department – Single Family Division in his role as Program Policy and Partnership Manager by establishing and fostering strong collaborative relationships with program partners, community and non-profit organizations, developers, homebuyers, and other stakeholders. Prior to joining the City of Houston, Jeremiah worked for five years in community and economic development nonprofit organizations in San Antonio, TX and five years in civil service with the State of Michigan.

Jeremiah is a graduate from Texas A&M Corpus Christi where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned a Master’s of Public Administration.


Brenda Velasco is a Financial Coach at Family Houston and a graduate of University of Houston – Downtown with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is a bilingual experienced professional who has worked in a variety of industries using a client-focused approach to financial planning.

For the past two years she has used a wholistic approach to help her clients develop a plan to save, reduce debt, and improve credit to reach their short term and long term financial goals. Brenda uses her business skills to form meaningful partnerships and her passion for helping others to make a positive impact in the community. In her spare time Brenda enjoys her time with her family and friends.
