Houston Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a decent place to live and call home. We make homeownership possible by building safe, decent affordable homes for hard-working, low-income families throughout our community.

Our Partner Families all have different stories of how they came to Houston Habitat, but they all come with one common goal: to create a better life for themselves and their families.

“I promised myself and my kids that one day we’d have a home of our own. My daughter said, ‘You’ve got until 40, Mom,’ and at 37, I beat the clock. For years, we lived in a place where I worried about their safety. I wanted better — a home they could feel proud of. Now, my son has a backyard, my daughter has space to study, and I finally have peace of mind. On dedication day, I wore a shirt that said, ‘Guess what, Dad? I’m a homeowner. Welcome home!’ To everyone at Habitat — thank you. Because of you, we’re blessed with more than a house. We are home.”

“I am a single father of four who faced obstacles that would have discouraged but after completeing the Houston Habitat program it helped make my dream giving my children a safe and stable home possible.” “For years, I worked long hours, took classes, and did everything I could to give my children the stability they deserved. The day I received the keys to our home, surrounded by my kids and my mother, was one of the most powerful moments of my life. It wasn’t just about owning a house — it was about finally having peace, security, and a future we could build together. I am beyond thankful for everyone who supported me along the way.”

“Before we started this program we were looking at houses all over Houston, but the housing market was at an all time high. We knew we could no longer stay where we were but after some conversations of relatives from new orleans who participated in the Houston Habitat program, we had to give it a shot. The program was long and tedious but with our families support and encouragment along with the help and guidance of Houston Habitat homeownership was possibe and we are extremly thankful.”
