Critical Repair

Houston Habitat’s home repair program preserves existing affordable communities and maintains homeownership for low-income individuals and families. Our home repair program preserves homes that would have been torn down and replaced with new houses that are too expensive for existing community residents, slowing gentrification.

Senior Repair

77% of older Americans want to remain in their homes for the long term, and 34%
recognize they may need to make physical changes to their house, such as modifying a
bathroom or installing ramps in their homes.

—AARP’s 2021 Home and Community Preferences Survey

Over the next 20 years, households in their 80s will be the fastest-growing age group. Houston Habitat’s Senior Repair program provides effective, sustainable solutions for elderly homeowners to age in place. Our organization uses the Housing Plus model and Aging in Place strategies when working with older adult homeowners. Housing Plus includes two assessments to ensure we understand each homeowner’s needs.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to age with dignity in their own home and community.

Houston Habitat partners with organizations and companies to support the low-income senior population in Houston and Harris County.

Thank you to our sponsors.

Veteran Repair

Houston Habitat repairs homes of low-income veterans as part of our commitment to support and honor the veteran community. Our organization is a proud member of the Habitat for Humanity Repair Corps. Generously funded by The Home Depot Foundation, Repair Corps enables Houston Habitat to help veterans build strength, stability and independence through critical home repairs on owner-occupied homes.

Houston Habitat also partners with other companies and organizations to support veterans through our Veteran Build program. For more information, visit our Veterans Build program page.
