Young people have the power to make a lasting impact in their communities. Through volunteer service, educational activities, and campus involvement, Houston Habitat for Humanity provides opportunities for youth to learn about affordable housing while helping build stronger neighborhoods across Houston.
Whether you’re a student looking to volunteer, a parent seeking meaningful service opportunities for your child, an educator planning a group project, or a college student interested in leadership, there are many ways to get involved.
Youth involvement helps create future community leaders while supporting Houston Habitat’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Through participation in Habitat programs, students can:
• Learn about affordable housing and community development
• Develop leadership and teamwork skills
• Gain hands-on volunteer experience
• Connect classroom learning to real-world impact
• Build a lifelong commitment to service
Youth ages 16 and older can volunteer directly with Houston Habitat and gain hands-on experience supporting affordable housing efforts throughout our community.

• House Build
• Wall build
• ReStore
• Settegast Garden
Volunteer Requirements
• Completed volunteer waiver
• Volunteer registration through VolunteerHub
While volunteers under age 16 are not permitted on active construction sites, there are many meaningful ways to support Houston Habitat’s mission.
Youth can:
• Organize donation drives
• Create activity baskets for Habitat homeowners
• Participate in educational activities focused on housing and community development
